Another
Timbre present the first Unnamed Music Festival for improvised and new
music with performances in London and Leeds. London's Café Oto host the
first two evenings with performances on 11 June by Om Chant, Angharad
Davies, Benedict Drew, John Edwards, Rhodri Davies, Lee Patterson,
Luisa Martin & Lucio Capece, Sebastien Lexer and Aleks Kolkowski
then 12 June Keith Rowe, Martin Küchen, Seymour Wright, Bechir Saade,
Clive Bell, Matt Milton, Jamie Coleman, Paul Abbott, Ute Kanngiesser
and Grundik Kasyansky. Leeds Seven Artspace, 13 June will feature
performances by Keith Rowe, Martin Küchen, Seymour Wright, Jez riley

The Wire
contributor Marcus Boon is to give a talk on ‘ethnopsychedelia’ as part
of the Berlin leg of the Sublime Frequencies European tour presented
with Club Transmediale. Structures Node 1: Global Alchemy is a two-day
event featuring sounds from around the world and events reflecting on
musical transformations induced by globalisation. On the lineup are
concerts by Omar Souleyman & Group Doueh, DJ sets by Sublime

John Cage at Museo d'art Contemporani Barcelona

Museo d'art Contemporanei Barcelona (MACBA) will be opening an exhibition of visual work by John Cage entitled John Cage and Experimental Art: The Anarchy of Silence
opening 23 October. To accompany this, on 29 October a concert of
Cage's music will be performed by Malcolm Goldstein (violin) and
Matthias Kaul (percussion) where they'll perform Cage's compositions
"Eight Whiskus", "Variations II", "Composed Improvisation", "Cheap

Berlin Breakthrough

Breakthrough
is a 12 hour experimental art event distributed via radio, the
internet, "practical endophysics" and "brain writing" (amongst other
methods) across various Berlin locations. The event will be created
through a three-day "Constructivist Workshop" with lectures and
performances by artists, theorists, researchers, and hackers.
Participants include backyardradio Berlin, Oswald Berthold, Benjamin
Cadon, Ewen Chardronnet, Alejo Duque, Verena Friedrich, Brendan Howell,
Jonathan Kemp, Yunchul Kim, Martin Kuentz, Olga Panadés Massanet,
Shintaro Miyazaki, Douglas Park, Otto Rossler, Gordan Savicic, Danja

Hoppy: Talking About A Revolutionary

Photographer, videographer and writer John 'Hoppy' Hopkins
will be having an exhibition of his work at the Idea Generator Gallery
19 June - 19 July. Hopkins moved to London in the early 1960's and
quickly became part of the underground cultural scene with his
political activism, art and writing. As a photographer,
Hopkins documented a wide array of important British and international
musicians including The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Thelonius Monk, Cecil
Taylor (pictured above) and John Coltrane along with other events and
figures on the scene at the time. Over the years Hopkins was also

DRAW,
a collaboration between artists Michael J Schmacher and Nisi Jacobs,
have constructed a multi-channel sound and video installation, Spectrum
at Brooklyn's Diapason Gallery. The work is a sound and image sculpture
utilising spectrographic analysis and multiple audio and video channels

CitySonics: Festival of Sound Art

its seventh edition the CitySonics festival of sound arts "enchants"
the city of Mons, Belgium attempting "poetic resistance against the
dark planetary times that are upon us and the chaosounds that aggress
us daily" with over 30 installations throughout 12 locations.
Participating artists include Pierre Bastien, Sébastien Roux, Eric Van

and myriad collaborations since 1981 moves on to Malmö's Konsthall,

Zeppelin 2009: Sounds Of Power / Listenings Of Fear

Barcelona's
Centre for Contemporary Culture (CCCB) have an open call out for
submission of electronic sound works to be broadcast 10, 11 & 12
December 2009 as part of their forthcoming Zeppelin 2009: Sounds Of Power / Listenings Of Fear
event. The show is focused around the Zeppelin organisers concerns
"about signs that might suggest we’re going backwards in terms of
hard-won social and intellectual achievements and freedoms" and they
ask artists to respond to a set of 10 questions pertaining to these
concerns. Deadline is 15 November 2009, works should be in WAV or AIFF
format at 44.1 kHz and 16 bits and no longer than 10 minutes. Pieces
may have up to eight tracks, each track should be in a separate file (a
work with eight tracks should have eight files, each containing a
